Day 246 - Oyster Slurps

Making the most of a Sunday afternoon, we went for a stroll around the West Village. For lunch we popped into Chelsea Market and slurped on a few Oysters. My favourites were the ones from Fanny Bay. Giggidy!

Day 245 - Harness Racing

Tonight we went to watch the Harness Racing at Meadowlands. It is horse racing but with modern versions, of Ben Hur style chariots. Spears and spikes not included.

The atmosphere was remarkably similar to that of Newcastle Dog track. To make sure that our British accents were not the only thing that were making us stand out, we put on our Tuxedos. I have never been asked am I part of a swing band so much in one night.

Day 244 - Tulip Fields

As I ran a blog post for Pops with the MG, it is only fair I run a blog post for Moms.

Day 243 - Thrift Shopping

While on the hunt for some shorts, we started bouncing in and out of vintage boutiques. In my usual behaviour, I got distracted by the original task at hand and started trying on fur coats. Worth an investment for the summer? If I was in the UK yes, NY no way!

Day 242 - Affogato

Vanilla Gelato + A double espresso shot = An Affogato.

A Taste sensation that is highly recommended for ice cream and coffee lovers!

Day 241 - Is this seat free?

As I strolled on home the long way round, to take in the sunshine and go for a coffee. Hoping to go and park my trunk on the bench outside, I was faced with a make shift flower bed. Faced by some serious flower power, I resided to the curb and admired the view.

Day 240 - Discovering Philanthropy Prezi

A few months ago, I started attending seminars on an evening, to learn about strategic philanthropy. My reason for doing so, was all to do with a potential dissertation topic I am considering, around the topic of 'creating shared value'. However, I am lacking a specific focus and needed my scope to be wider.

Although I am still searching for the catalyst, it has been a fascinating journey. I even came up with the idea and design for an app for the Women's Refugee Commission. Opening my perspective a bit further, has opened up a few more doors. Including the one on the 30th floor of 3 Times Square!

Day 239 - Sunday Strategy

I know I have said this before but I really don't mind class on a weekend. Even when we do spend the entire weekend learning various strategy matrices!

Ok, so that is probably an exaggeration as to my enjoyment level but I guess when you have no option, you might as well try your hardest and enjoy it. Come at me S.P.A.C.E matrix!

Day 238 - Harbour Running

Idyllic Exercise!

Day 237 - 10/10 for Effort

Each day at work, the canteen runs themed dishes from various countries. For the first time since I arrived, they had an English spread. On the menu it sounded fantastic; fish, chips and roast beef.

Unfortunately, the description was better than the appearance. My fish fingers, chips and 'fried' beef did serve a purpose by getting me through Friday afternoon. Admittedly, though it wasn't exactly what I was expecting!

Day 236 - Fantastic... Naat!

Spectacularly, left my keys at home today. Luckily though, I had my financial accounting book as company to bide the hour that I sat waiting for my flatmates to return.

Admittedly this was not one of best experiences since I have been out here!

Day 235 - COOKIES!

They found me! I shall be making this Girl Scout the most successful cookie seller ever.

Day 234 - Dave & Busters

In Times Square, there is a money making machine called Dave & Busters. Having been walking passed it for almost eight months now, I decided to finally venture in.

It's full of kids screaming, machines ringing and bright lights flashing. So nothing much different to your usual arcade that you would find on say, Cleethorpes sea front. Nonetheless, I was committed to gaining an experience out of D&Bs, so inserted my card in exchange for a bright orange D&B card.

You go around the various game stations and pick your poison; Time Crisis, Mini Basket Ball, Angry Birds! You name it, they have it. Instead of being drowned in riches of quarters, you are ladened with paper card tokens. With these tokens, you exchange them for various 'prizes'. There is a lot to say that a stuffed cuddly toy is worth 600 tokens!

Day 233 - FIRE!

Having managed to successfully navigate through my Monday at work, I went on about my business to catch the train from Stamford to Grand Central Terminal. This was until, a mini fire started on the track.

We were swiftly evacuated and told to wait off premises for 45 minutes or so. The reason for the fire, was that someone had flicked their cigarette but on the track and it had caught alight of something. If that is not reason to not smoke, then I don't know what is!

Day 232 - NY International Auto Show

James and I went to the New York International Auto Show at the Javits Centre today. There were some fantastic machines present.

I enjoyed the contrast between the American and European cars. Without pointing out the obvious, the US manufactures brought HUGEnormous size and straight lines, while the European manufacturers had elegant curves and sheer power. To see how big some of the trucks truly were, I used James as a measuring tool.

1 James = Small
2 James = Standard
3 James = Huge
4 James = HUGENORMOUS
