Day 56 - Guggenheim
Please bare with me on this post. Today I ventured into a world that I know very little about, so I would advise not to read too much into my descriptions regarding the two and a half hours I spent looking round the Guggenheim. It was a true education into the world of Picasso and his focus on Black and White.
It was fascinating to listen how he changed, adapted and reverted his styles throughout his many years as a pioneering artist. As I strolled up the the rising helter skelter of the Guggenheim, I was introduced to Picasso's blue and rose periods, cubism, figurative paintings and surrealism. Words which I never knew the meanings of until today. It became clear to me that these were his memoirs. His blog if you will. He had the ability to depict his sightings, feelings and beliefs with such accuracy.
In homage to Pablo, I have edited my photos in Black and White. For obvious reasons I could not take pictures of the work, so I focused on the unique structure that enclosed his workings.

Day 55 - The Sanctuary
I have discovered my new haven! Somewhere to chill out on a comfy couch, drink a coffee and focus purely on my studies, with no distractions. Too much to ask in the city that never sleeps? Not at all clearly!
Over the next six months, I have a feeling that this will bring regularity and norm to a schedule that consists of inconsistency and exhilaration.
I have been deliberating with myself as to whether I should divulge the name of this coffee house. I came to the conclusion that it would be unfair to hoard such information. So here you go;

Day 54 - Brick Lane Curry House
I went to my first curry house tonight and what better place than one that had been on Man Vs Food. As well as having the madras, I shared the Phaal with a friend. This curry had a big build up! It had the Man Vs Food presenter sweating profusely and had been compared to eating a porcupine!
However, I was not impressed. I was expecting to be crippled in agony, sweating my body weight and more red faced than when I am out in the sun. Instead, I just got a tingle in my mouth and a bit hot.
Taste - 7/10
Atmosphere - 6/10

Day 53 - Ben Cohen @ My first networking evening
I went to my first network evening tonight, courtesy of the Mountbatten Institute, St George's Society and the Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation.
Getting the opportunity to mingle with native New Yorkers and meet the second highest scorer for England, made for a great evenings worth of entertainment.
Speaking to the native's allowed for me to delve into their local geographical knowledge and pick out places that I have never heard of. Cannot wait to explore them!
I wasn't ashamed of telling Ben that I was blogging while I was out here and he said I had to post a link to their website for a picture with him. Deal! Here you go Ben...

Day 52 - Radio City & The Script
Today I used the force of YOLO! A fellow intern was selling two tickets to see The Script at Radio City and although I got in super late last night from the game, I thought why not!
To top the night, on the Subway going home someone drew my profile! Quality evenings entertainment!

Day 51 - NY Jets
I've been to see my first American Football game tonight, NY Jets vs The Houston Texans at the MetLife stadium.
My adopted home team did unfortunately lose. However, the crowd managed to keep the atmosphere pumping. I mean there were Fireworks on home touchdowns, the US military absorbing the standing ovations and of course an array of cheerleaders dancing to Pang Nam style at various intervals!
To say this is a Monday night and the game didn't get going till 8.30pm, the stadium was still packed full of passionate, Jet loyal, raucous fans. Certainly different to the Gainsborough Trinity match I watched earlier this year...
