Day 316 - Brooklyn Bridge Romance

The dreaded final day has come. Getting up early we headed straight into New York, via the fleet of LGBT flagged boats. I completely forgot that this weekend was Gay Pride. It certainly made for some interesting viewings.

We were heading to Brooklyn Bridge via Little Italy and China Town. Would you believe that it was the first time that I had actually ventured down Mulberry Street. I had been here 316 days and had not been to Little Italy. Travesty!

When we arrived on Brooklyn Bridge, we walked over to the archways to lock on our padlock. It is not a unique idea but it is kind of romantic I guess. Hopefully it will stay up there for my last fifty days here in New York at least.

After our trip into New York we had to head straight over to JFK. No matter how many times we do this it never gets easier. Thank you so much for an amazing time Janie! I will be home soon :) xxx

Day 315 - Westside Trailing

A West Village stroll was our plan for today. Starting off with a supremely chocolatey and carb 'o' rific breakfast, we headed to Washington Square Park and listened to a musician play his Grand Piano. That was certainly a first for me. I wonder how he got it there?

As today was also Janie and I's anniversary we headed to a restaurant that we found by the off chance when she was here at Christmas, Lincoln on the Upper West Side. It stunned us again at how visually attractive and delectable the food was.

Day 314 - Hurricane Harbour

After a good nights sleep, we got up early and headed to Jackson New Jersey for the six flags water park. Fairly quiet due to the impending weather warnings we made the most of it and ran around the park like children.

Apart from Janie loosing here bikini top at one point on one of the rides, I would say it was a rather successful day.

Day 313 - Man of Steel

We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow so opted for watching a man in tights at Newport cinema. It is nice to have my original cinema buddy back and playing the Yay or Nay game during the film adverts.

Day 312 - Les Miserables in the Park

The last film I saw with Janie in New York was Les Miserables, so when we heard that the film was being shown at the open air cinema in Hoboken park we jumped on the opportunity to go. Stopping off at Morton Williams on the way to get a picnic, we got comfy(ish) and belted out 'I dreamed a dream'.

Day 311 - Sushi Freshmen

I picked up a few chocolate covered strawberries for Janie on the way home from work today. They didn't last long! Extortionate deliciousness right there.

We did plan on heading back into New York but unfortunately Janie's feet had taken a pounding on the New York City so we stayed local and headed to Komegashi that was just round the corner. It worked out alright as it was Janie's first ever Sushi experience. Just constant surprises on Alex's VIP holiday tours.

Day 310 - Hobo Cubano

Due to holiday allowance limitations, I have to go into work Monday through Thursday. I guess it does mean that Janie can bathe in the sun while I stay under cover. It also means that we try to make the most of the evenings by doing what we do best - eating.

We took the nice stroll along the harbour into Hoboken and wandered down Washington Street. Surrounded by happy hours and restaurant managers inviting us into their restaurant we opted for a cuban establishment. I am not entirely sure but I think the $5 mojitos may have swayed our choice.
