Day 351 - The Butler

Now tonight, I was in the presence of some some serious A lister celebrities.

Attending as a guest of the screening administrator, I was provided with free entry to see The Butler and its question and answer session with the films cast and crew afterwards.

In attendance there was Oprah Winfrey, Lenny Kravitz, Forest Whitaker, Terrence Howard, David Oyelowo and Cuba Gooding Jr alongside director Lee Daniels.

This will definitely be a defining moment of my time in New York. A free film at the School of Visual Arts, courtesy of Bafta, with Oprah. Rediculous!

Day 350 - August vs March Football Match

The build up to this game has been huge. The clash of the titans. Old Guard vs The New. 12 months in NY compared to 5 months in NY.

It seems that having 12 months in New York had taken its toll on some of the August interns. The March's went on to win 4-2.

Played on top of a rooftop overlooking the  Hudson and downtown Manhattan, the views of the surrounding area, were much better than that on the pitch. Nonetheless, a new competition has been spawned for future Mountbatten's to look forward to.

Day 349 - Strawberry Margharita

I am not particularly a big drinker so don't spend that much of my stipend on the alcoholic sauce. However, when every single intern seems to rave on about these Strawberry Frozen Margaritas, I thought I best give them a try.

Conclusion - Struggle to see what all the fuss is about. It gives you brain freeze and makes you pull silly faves when you taste the tequila. I'll stick to my shakes.

Day 348 - August

Would you believe it. I am into my last month here. Time. Has. Flown!

Day 344 - Next Time Will be the Last Time

The last day blues have arrived.

I took Dad and and Jack over to my flat first thing and briefly showed them around before we headed straight back on the path to Christopher Street.

Stopping of at my new favourite sandwich shop, Il Cantuccio (91 Christopher Street), we stopped in for an iced coffee and ham and cheese focaccia bread.

We then spent the rest of the afternoon strolling around the West Village and eating FroYo.

Thank you very much Dad and Jack for a fantastic time and a few more great experiences to add to my once in a life time list. Four weeks and counting!

Day 343 - Six Flags

From one theme park to another, we ventured to Six Flags in Jackson, New Jersey. You may remember, I went to the water park here with Janie a month or so ago.

What a theme park it was as well. The rides, were fast, aggressive and long. Nitro was fast and loopy. Kingda Ka was a mixture of Alton Towers Oblivion and Rita, and Bizaro had it all with fire breathing, dry ice spraying loops.

A great, sunburnt day!

I clocked the camera and decided to pretend sleep

Day 342 - Coney Fireworks

After an early finish from work, we headed straight over to Coney Island. We were actually heading for an evening in the West Village but got talking on the subway and missed our stop. My bad!

We headed straight for the go karts. They were not a great start for Jack and I. Dad had a great time though, dominating the track while we got caught up in traffic.

To let out some frustration from the karts, we went to smash some plates. After four attempts, I finally managed to win a cuddly toy.

We then headed for Cyclone. A roller coaster that was first made in 1927. The faces on the picture below are genuine, as I was busy playing with the camera, thinking it was going to be a relaxing ride, until it suddenly decided to throw me out of my seat (slight exaggeration maybe)!

Coming back down to earth with a bang - literally - we headed to the pier for an ice cream and to watch the fireworks light up the sandy beaches. To top it off, we also witnessed a security guard boomtime a teenage girl try and run towards the fireworks. She supposedly wanted to go for a swim... via the fireworks!
