Day 50 - "I have a very unique set of skills"

I had my first US Cinema experience today and I went to see the sequel to one of my favourite films, Taken 2. The cinema building and film was what you would expect but what you would not expect is how animated the cinema goers are!

The two girls that were sat next to me were clapping, talking and trying to predict what was going to happen next. This was up until the couple in front decided to have a marital, much to the upset of the two girls, who preceded to tut loudly and move seats to the other side. Pot-Kettle???

Day 49 - Pranna and Pizza

It is becoming standard procedure that when a fellow intern has a birthday they want to go for brunch somewhere. The one I went to this week was called Pranna on 28th and Madison. Although it was slightly more expensive then the others I had been to, it did definitely have the best vibe. This is best explained by the picture that I took at roughly 4.30pm ( I think). Notice if you will the SUNlight still beaming through the window. Surreal!

On the way home I stopped of at a pizza house. The very friendly chef let me make pizzas with him! His name was Willy. He was a character!

Day 48 - Halloween Preparations

As you may have already expected, the Americans have a very good knack of making the most out of celebrations. For example, coming up at the end of this month, Halloween will be upon us. And boy are you reminded about it!  Halloween fancy dress shops having been popping up around the Upper East Side, bars have skeletons dressed up in black and restaurants have giant pumpkins outside the front of them!

The one that I have posted particularly took my eye, due to the fact that the restaurant owner was clearly proud of its size. I thought it appropriate to play the tourist role in spectacular fashion by taking its picture. The restaurant owner then went on to pat the pumpkin as if it was one of his children that had just done well at school!

Unrelated in anyway to Halloween but still equally significant is my new mug. I like to represent, even when I am drinking my green tea with pomegranate.

Day 47 - Homemade Curry

I was treated last night to a homemade curry from a neighbour with homemade spicy poppadums. Very content after I devoured that off!

Day 46 - Presidential Debate

Tonight I am watching my first, full presidential debate. I do not feel that I can provide any other comment, other than it is actually quite enjoyable.

To warm myself up for the debate I had a personal best at wings night, with 22. The 30 mark still evades me.

Day 45 - The days be getting darker

That time of year is approaching when you are leaving for work and it is dark. To make the situation even more dramatic, there was cloud covering the top of the skyscrapers!

It still manages to pump out near to 25c heat in the middle of the day. You wouldn't get this in Doncaster, that's for sure!

Day 44 - 666 Park Avenue Film Set

There is a new TV programme about to air in the US called 666 Park Avenue and they just so happen to be filming on my street. It has the mean boss lady from Ugly Betty (Vanessa Williams) and John Locke from Lost in it.

Unfortunately, I had to go to work and missed all the actual filming so instead you can have some pictures of a trailer and a manikins head. Great substitute!
